B.E. Schafer has had a deep love of horror and sci-fi.  At the age of 15 he was introduced to many other types of fiction and non-fiction books by a teacher of his.  Schafer grew up and was educated in Southern Indiana.  He has lived in Illinois and the St. Louis Metro area.  He now resides in Indiana with his wife, six children, two dogs and two cats.  He is the Evansville Books Examiner for the Examiner.com where he writes about local and national authors as well as book reviews. Six Toes is his first novel.

Synopsis:
Six Toes is set in the small town of Solitude in southern Indiana along the banks of the Ohio River. Dr Richard Melton, research scientist has been working in genetics, looking for cures to diseases. When an incident of national security takes place nearby his laboratory, his facility is commandeered by the U.S. Air force.

Ten years later deep within the small Midwest town of Solitude strange things are happening to the children. Twenty plus years of secrets are about to come out. From experimentation gone awry and young adolescent hormones on the run, to discovering their true destiny, the children of Solitude are forced to fight for their very lives and come to terms with the fact that their lives will never be normal. The children must seek out who they really are, and just what it means to be human in a world of ‘crazy animals.
