In 1988 Marjorie McKinnon entered a program for recovery from incest, a journey that would take almost five years to complete. During that time, she wrote about her experience, a chronicle of going from a place of despair to one of joy. That book, titled Let Me Hurt You and Don’t Cry Out was her first attempt to publish.
She spent the next three years developing a program on recovery from child sexual abuse. She titled that self-published book, REPAIR Your Life: A Program for Recovery from Incest & Childhood Sexual Abuse and used it as an accompaniment to seminars she taught in the Los Angeles area. This book has recently been released by Loving Healing Press and the children’s version of the same name will be released on June 20, 2008.
In the last ten years, Marjorie has completing five novels and five other non-fiction works. She is currently doing speaking engagements around the country and is the founder of The Lamplighters, a rapidly growing movement for survivors of incest and child sexual abuse. Currently there are 34 Lamplighter chapters in 23 states, a chapter in Tokyo, Japan, one in England and one in Ontario, Canada. The Lamplighter’s web site is at http://www.thelamplighters.org.
