Dr. Barbara Sinor has maintained a private counseling practice for over twenty-five years. She counsels individuals and facilitates groups exploring the healing and recovery of addiction, post-traumatic stress disorder, childhood abuse/incest, adults of alcoholics, and codependent/self-esteem issues.

Barbara is coauthor of "Beyond Words: A Lexicon of Metaphysical Thought." Her second book "Gifts From The Child Within" which we will be discussing here is the culmination of clinical research in the areas of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and adult survivors of childhood abuse/incest. Dr. Sinor’s third book is An Inspirational Guide for the Recovering Soul.  This book is a companion guidebook for further growth and understanding of the personal healing and recovery process which can be used by anyone dealing with past or present trauma. In 2006, Barbara coauthored a manuscript entitled "What’s Really Going On? Questioning Our View of Addiction" and is currently working on "Tales of Addiction" which documents stories from those who have been or are addicted to drugs and/or alcohol, or those whose life has been affected by this addiction through friends and family.

Dr. Sinor received her Doctorate in Psychology in 1997; her Master of Arts in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology; and was trained as a Clinical Hypnotherapist by the Hypnotherapy Training Institute of Northern California and the Association for Past Life and Regression Therapies. Dr. Sinor is experienced in the media; giving seminars and speaking engagements; writing articles for journals, magazines, and online web sites; and has a wide range of educational expertise.

Synopsis: " Gifts From the Child Within" brings a refreshing approach to guiding its reader to understanding the initial or underlying basis to their emotional suffering due to past childhood trauma. This recovery book is geared toward both professional and layperson.

Its pages are filled with offerings from psychological, physiological, and spiritual perspectives which takes the reader on a journey into the soul. It is written with sensitivity and clarity inviting the reader to search within for healing. As the author shares her own journey of childhood abuse, the reader is asked to address issues surrounding physical, mental, spiritual, and sexual abuse. Instructions are captured to guide one toward reaching for their own child within; releasing negative emotions; re-creating outdated childhood beliefs; and, to recognize the gifts the inner child has for us.

The process of Re-Creation Therapy(tm) is introduced by the author allowing the reader who follows its guidance to reap the effects of gradual changes in self-awareness which lead to a greater understanding of the psychodynamics the child within plays in the adult life. Included are a series of healing visualizations and autohypnosis suggestions; blank journal pages; and sample affirmations following each chapter.
